I.
The Use of RFID in Supply Chain for the Garment Industry
The
objective is to investigate the use of RFID in a garment product
supply chain which involves manufacturers in Mainland, distribution
centers in Hong Kong and retail shops in Hong Kong and overseas.
In the process, we will identify and prototype key applications.
II.
Technology Toward EPC-based Information Agent
The
objective is to investigate and propose enabling technology
that is vital for 3rd party information agents to connect,
interface and access the vast repositories in the RFID-induced
information space. This project will provide the first characterizations
of 3rd party information agents and EPC-based repositories,
and their combined valued which is perceived as much higher
than sum of each individually. Third (3rd) party agents can
take advantage of the RFID-induced information, coupled with
transactional information generated from specific business
chains, and with other business data to project views of these
chains that are not possible before. EPC-based information
agents, or third-party agents, such as that of DTTN (Digital
Trade and Transportation Network) must be able to plug into
these repositories seamlessly with enabling technology.
III. Technology for
Privacy & Security Schemes in RFID-Driven Chains
The
challenge for RFID-driven supply and logistics chains is to
derive benefits from the single RFID technology across these
chains (or business chains in general) and at the same time,
to protect interests of each party at different segments uniquely
and individually. Different security and privacy schemes are
needed and have been proposed
to address the concerns among partners of same and different
business chains, and individual consumers or end users.
The objective of this project is to define enabling technology
to enforce privacy and security in RFID-driven business chains.
